Redfield binocular life time warranty

I own a 10x50 redfield binoculars that can not focus. The company is now out of business so how do I get them fixed at little or no cost because they have a life time warranty? Or am I simply out of luck? Thanks, Glenn

My Sigma binoculars are small "opera type" 8x21 mini...purchased at least 15 years ago in Hickory Hills, Il from a camera-binoculars store. I loved them. Since then, I made a couple of moves & now live outside of San Antonio & had not used them since I left Arlington a couple of years ago. They stayed in the little case in a drawer along with my large binoculars. Planning to go to a play in a few weeks, I looked them up & am baffled. The lenses & the parts that touch the eyes are perfect but the "black case" is so sticky & fingers get inky black that is hard to wash off. These were never unreasonably used or stored. Finding the now old 5 yr warranty card, I called NY for advice on what or how to solve this...condition. It is too long a story to repeat regarding the rude, what sounded like a gum smacking young thing told me. What ever happened to "Customer Service?" Hoping you can give me some am not looking for a refund (how insulting) just help. Thank you, Helen M Daley

Hi Helen, I'll try to assist you with this problem. It sounds like there has been a chemical deterioration of the enamel coating, and I doubt that there is an easy answer, since most people would have lost or broken the glasses by this time, so the problem wouldn't normally suface. The problem might be able to be curtailed by using a clear sealant on the emitting surfaces. I'm not certain which one would be best, but possibly a lacquer, or even clear fingernail polish might work well. I would call around to some local camera repair shops, and see what they might suggest- there's the possibility that they've dealt with this problem before, in one form or another. They may also be able to suggest what woud be best to do, in this situation. I really feel the body should be redone, but I don't know of anyone who does that. Good luck, however, and hope this helps.

My case or the cover on my compact pocket 8X21 binoculars seems to have self-destructed. It is all sticky, and it has been in an air-conditioned house! I didn't spill anything on it. Wasn't sure what to do-- lenses are OK, but cannot hold onto them without getting covered in black goop.Still under 30 warranty if I can find the receipt.

Eeeuk... say what? I wonder if it isn't a sort of mold? or perhaps the external coating has broken down for whatever reason, and covered the outside of them. To my mind, receipt or no receipt, I am sure they will, they should, refund. or replace, I mean if it is even half as bad as you say, it will be obvious. But, I agree take it back,

Leica ? Disassemble/ Clean / Reassemble

You're best option is a pair of Canon IS binoculars. I am willing to trade you a 10x30 IS near mint in the box for the Leicas plus $100. James (718)578-5231
