Stripped gears on the focuser

Sir, I have a 10 year old 8in meade refelcting telescope. The gears are stripped on the focuser. I need the barrel replaced and the worm gears on the device you turn to focus. Where can I order these parts? Thank you, Carl Nuzzo [email protected]

My Meade 90mm refractor with autostar has a stripped gear, crappy little nylon gear that drives the worm gear that rotates the telescope. Can I get relacement gears or do I have to get a new drive system. I will not send it to meade as it will more than likely cost more than the price paid.

No one but Meade makes parts for this scope. Do you intend to have a custom GEAR machined??? This will be more than just sending it back to Meade; which you will need to do to get it repaired.

The teeth small pinion gear on the focus knob shaft are stipped

No. That's one of the trade-offs with cheap models, they can be fine but have absolutely no spares back up.All you can do is to check whether the 'scope is covered by a manufacturer's warranty.

Can't focus the gears that are used in focusing are stripped out am trying to find out where to get repaired

Unless you can find another "used broken" ETX of same model-- to get the focus off of-- your only recourse will be to send it back to Meade for repair--Here is their customer service phone number-- and their manualshttp://www.meade.com/manuals/index.htmlhttp://www.meade.com/support/contact.html Contact number

I have a Meade RB-70 telescope and have stripped the gears in the vertical adjuster - Meade no longer has the parts available

Only Meade would have the repair parts. Sorry. You will need to either use it as is, or purchase another telescope. The telescope TUBE could be re-mounted on a photo tripod and used manually if you want to do this.
