Celestron colmination hi. i just purchased a celestron 76mm skywatcher and in the manual it says colmination may be required. when i look through the lens holder the image is not exactly the same as the picture in the manual. their is more black at the top of the circle than at the bottom. i tried turning the screws and i didnt notice any change. how far in can i tun th screws in without breaking something? cheers Steve

There should be 2 sets of adjustments to be done. The first is to sight from the eyepiece holder, and see if the diagonal has the back mirror centered - don't be concerned about the off-center of the main mirror. Once the diagonal is centered, then use the adjuster screws to bring the main mirror into line. Adjust first one way then the next (in or out). When done, your eye should be centered in both mirrors. Then align the finder, and away you go.

Am I supposed to see the cross in the centre of image on celestron 76eq

You will see diffrection spikes when focused on a very bright objecthttp://www.goldastro.com/images/newtonian.jpgand this can also appear around a bright planet. However it is very irritating, and to minimise it, make sure your scope is well collimated (optically aligned). There is too much to collimation to include here, but there are many guides on the Nethttp://www.cloudynights.com/documents/primer.pdfhttp://www.atmsite.org/contrib/Carlin/collimation/

Images viewed are upside down

Oh this is normal, because when looking at stars it really doesnt matter if they are inverted, but by leaving out the erecting lenses you get more light and less distortion. so you need an erecting lense to see images in the daytime, call [email protected],im sure they can sell you the right adaptable piece....good [email protected]

I have a Celestron Newtonian telescope, 76mm, 700mm. I am trying to locate the finder scope bracket to replace a broken one. I cannot find any other numbers, but it is about ten years old.

Simply buy another finderscope. Many internet retailers sell finder scopes. Here is Orion Telescope:http://www.telescope.com/control/telescope-finder-scopes
