There are a few basic things to be aware of. This is an astronomical telescope so there is no erecting lens combination. So, everything you look at will be upside down. As a refracting telescope you have virtually no maintenance. A good thing. This telescope has an equatorial mount. Basically the mount corrects for the off-axis spin of the earth. The quick and dirty way to align the scope is to set position on the mount to 0hrs and 90 degrees. Make sure you are setup on a level surface and then rotate the entire telescope and tripod so that it faces north. Depending on your Latitude and longitude Polaris or the north start will appear higher or lower in the sky. Polaris is called the north star because it is within 1degree of the true north and it is always in the same spot throughout the night and year. The mount will have a third adjustment point near the base to adjust for the apparent change in position caused by the curvature of the earth. Once it is lined up try pointing the telescope at a bright star. The smaller the mm number on the eyepiece the higher the magnification. The beauty of an equatorial mount is that once you have it properly aligned on an object you only have to adjust on axis to keep the object in view.I could write pages on this please re-post with some more specific questions and I will try my best to answer them for you. Good luck and happy star hopping.

Please help. I need the user manual for c-star

That is a very simple reflector style telescope --- here is my suggestions-1. Forget about the barlow--- since this scope has a very small aperture you will not be able to get much more than about 125 power-- if you try to use the barlow which DOUBLES or TRIPLES the power of your eyepieces the images you see will be degraded and it will be VERY hard to point the telescope and focus.2. Put the eyepiece with the largest number (which is the lowest magnification) into the telescope and take it outside during the day and practice focusing on a distant object.3. Take it out at night when the moon is up and LESS THAN 3/4 full-- the moon should be your first night target...... if all goes well try to find Saturn which is up in the sky right now, and appears as a slightly yellow "star".4. The smaller telescope is the finder scope and mounts on top of the main telescope tube. Use this to point the main telescope------- but you must first line it up on a distant object so that the small telescope and the big tube are both pointed exactly alike.5. Try to find a local astronomy club and attend one of their star parties.6. Here is a manual for a telescope that is very similar to what you have except yours is on an Alt Az Mount while the one below is on an equatorial mount but many of the tube parts are the same--

Manual for barska telescope 114900

You will not find a manual for that scope. BUT! It's a small equatorial mounted REFLECTOR telescope. Meade telescopes has a similar model and a manual. They all assemble and are used in the same way.Look on this web site under REFLECTOR for a scope similar to yours and download the manual and print it. scope should be very similar to this one: web site may also help you.

Please help we have a mars explorer 74/700, very little used and the last time put away, the instructions for setting up appear not to have been included (not by me i might add with my borderline OCD!). the telescope has now gone north for a clearer atmosphereto be set up at grandparents. i need to get hold of set up instructions to ensure the telescope is set up correctly and all parts are there... very gratefully yours cheryl rudden

I believe this is a Bushnell telescope. All of the Bushnell manuals are on this web site. down the page for your telescope model.

Hello. My daughter received the 120mm Astro-Nova 525x telescope as a gift. There was an instruction paper for putting it together which I did. It also had the star chart and the "Getting the Most From Your New Telescope" DVD which did not work at all and looking over the parts I realized the CyberSky Interactive CD-ROM was missing. So, I have no idea how to use the telescope at all. It was purchased at Toy R Us but they weren't any help except to say to contact you directly. We have been unable to use it for months and right now since Jupiter is visible in the night sky and won't be for another 25 years, we want to learn how to work this telescope and soon! Could you please send me the DVD and CD-ROM, otherwise the purchase of this telescope was a complete waste of money for my mother and that saddens me, not to mention my daughter has not been able to use it. Thank you for your help.

I would be surprised if ToysRus told you to contact FixYa. This is an advice site largely manned by volunteers, with no connection to ToysRus or Edu-Science. I would suggest that you contact Edu-Science to get the missing CD, or insist that ToysRus refund for the defective (missing parts) item they have sold you.Don't worry about Jupiter. It is not going to disappear. I have been watching it for decades and it is almost always up there.

You will not find an instruction manual for that small telescope. However Meade maintains a web site for their telescopes. Look under REFRACTOR for one similar to your scope.

I have six Meade ETS-LX 6" telescopes which are used in an introductory astronomy lab. I have upgraded the firmware and other files in three of the six and they are working fine. The other three do not function properly. When the powerswitch is turned on, the light in the switch blinks several times and then comes on steady. The AutoStar III handbook shows nothing. I tried the Safe-Loader method given in the advice in several places (including this site) to restore the functioning (hold Enter and Scroll down keys and then turn on), but that does not work (I think it only applies to #495 or #497 Autostars). The safe load procedure for the Autostar II also (999) does not work. According to the Meade assistance person I spoke with, there is no safeload procedure for the Autostar III. The handboxes are not the problem, they work fine on the three telescopes that I did get working. None of the working telescopes give the blinking on the power switch common to all three that do not work. I have tried turning the telescopes on using battery power only, and with the Meade approved 12 V power converter: same sympton with both. Meade's advice is to mail the telescopes to them. If it was only one that failed in this manner I'd probably take that advice, but with three failing the same way, I thought I try to get some help. All are out of warranty, of course. Any ideas?

These scopes have many bugs in the firmware and are not a mature technology. Some people have issues and some do not.About the only thing you can try is to reload the firmware using the SC CARD method. Contact Meade or read the manual to learn how to upgrade the firmware using an SD flash memory card.Other than that the scopes will need to be returned to Meade for repair.
