Upside down images

When I inserted the Erecting lens into the focusing tube, then the penta mirror into the Erecting lens, I place the 12.5 eye piece on the penta mirror and I'm not able to see anything, it looks dark, what can I do?, the same happens when I tried to use the Barlow lens. Thank you for any help.

In a refractor images are upside down as with most telescopes. You need an image erector to create a normal correct R and L and Up and Down image. It is a lens which goes in front of the eyepiece to give a correct image.

For daytime use a erect image prism eyepiece.Follow below instructions (except 7 in your case) Get Stellarium or another fine astronomy programDuring the day, point the telescope at a part of the landscape about 100 yards away.Use the lowest power eyepiece (highest number) in the focal tube. Center the landscape object in the telescope. Hello, I m using the 60700 Telescope but the image i see in lens is very blurred, i assembled my telescope as per Manuel instruction but still i see upside down image with blurred effects. I bought a basic Meade DS 2114 GOTO astronomical telescope for my father who is only just getting into telescopes and astronomy. As both of us are just beginners and mainly use the telescope leisurely, we haven't gotten very serious about it and don't know too much. NO it is NOT missing a lens-- all astronomical telescopes show upside down images. You can buy an "erecting prism" diagonal for terrestrial viewing, but you do not need it to view the night sky.Here is an example of the erecting prism:

Dopn't worry about upside down. All astronomical telescopes show images upside down. There is no up or down in space.You may have what is called an "erecting" prism diagonal that turns the image right side up. Just Google "erecting prism diagonal".This may also help you.

I have a new Brookstone compact telescope. The image in the smaller viewfinder is upside down making it difficult to line up with image in main telescope. Is this normal? And if so, any suggestions for aligning the 2 images? Thanks.

Astronomical telescopes usually show an upside down image. There is a good reason for this- erecting the image needs more bits of glass in the light path, which reduces the amount of light and increases aberrations. Even if this is only slight, astronomers prefer to avoid it, and they don't really care which way up the Moon or Jupiter appear. It is possible to fit an erecting prism or eyepiece to most astronomical telescopes, and some of them come with one, but one wouldn't bother to do this with the small finder scope.Telescope manuals recommend that you align the finder scope in daylight, by pointing the main scope at an object on the horizon and adjusting the finder to match (never point a telescope toward the Sun!). Once you have a tree or mountain peak in the center of the main scope's image, you can then adjust the screws around the finder scope to get the crosshairs (or red dot) centered on the same object. It is very difficult to do this job in the dark, especially as objects in the sky are constantly on the move.
