My father received a really nice Maede telescope, model 2114 I believe, a while ago, and I decided to take it out of it's attic resting place to actually get it working. However I believe it is missing the eyepiece. I have the viewfinder but no eye piece to actually see into the telescope. where can I find a replacement piece?

Most telescopes use a standard fitting eyepiece with a 1.25 inch outside diameter barrel. You can measure the mount where the eyepiece goes to make sure that yours is this size, then search on eBay or Amazon for "1.25 eyepiece" and you will find many available. Some of these will even be made by Meade, but any make will fit. The other variable will be the focal length of the eyepiece, which is what determines it's power. The power of the scope will be the focal length of the main objective divided by the focal length of the eyepiece, so a 9mm eyepiece will give a higher magnification (and be dimmer and harder to focus and find objects) than a 20mm eyepiece. It is usual to have two or three different focal length eyepieces for viewing different objects. You will find a large variation in prices, which is partly due to the difference in quality and type of construction of the eyepieces. Kellner eyepieces are simple and cheap, whereas Possl or orthoscopic ones are more complex and cost more. There are reasons why people will pay more for the better eyepieces.

I bought a Galileo telescope second hand and it didn't have papers or instructions. How can I determine which telescope it is and get instructions? One mounted piece is labeled "Mars' Eye Finderscope." Another is "Astronomical Reflector D= 76 F= 700 mm." I measured it at 27" long and 5" diameter. Thanks!!!

Missing a piece of my RX-9 +venture

You are missing the 2 inch to 1.25 inch adapter, that fits into the focuser so you can use 1.25 inch eyepieces.Here:http://www.agenaastro.com/Blue-Fireball-2-to-1-25-Eyepiece-Adapter-p/paar-bf-e04017.htm

I own a Pentax PF80-ED spotting scope with a Pentax SMC Zoom Eyepiece 20x-60x #70509. I recently lost the eye relief ring from the end of the eyepiece. This piece of plastic must have come unscrewed and fallen off. I called Pentax Service Department and was told they don't repair these scopes and they gave me the parts dept no.. I called the parts department and was told that tghey don't stock spotting scope parts and that I would have to return the scope and they would repair or replace it, They refused to tell me if they would charge me for the replacement. This scope cost over $1,000, and the missing ring is a $5 or $10, part. Any ideas on how I can get this part or how I can get in touch with an actual service department worker (not customer dervice)? The scope is 8 years old, so I assume it is out of warranty

Unfortunately, you're at the mercy of the parts/service department. They made it, they have the parts, and you're in a rough spot. I would advertise on Craigs list about the relief ring, and see if you get a hit. Someone might have a broken scope with the ring intact. It's about your only shot, short of calling gun shops across the country for a good used one, or one for parts. And yes, if you could get to the service or parts department, you might be able to procure one, but that would take trying to get a number for them and trying to contact them, which might be possible with some ingenuity and finesse. Wish I had more, but hope this helps.

I am trying to sell a Tasco 302675 telescope but it is missing the lens for the eye piece. What is it worth with and without the lens and how expensive is it to replace the lens?

Not very much. Maybe $30 or $40. Might be better to just donate it to a school. You can find dozens of these types of scopes for sale on craigslist.comJust search for TELESCOPE.
