GoTo Problem Please Help... im and going crazy!!! I have a Celestron Nextstar SLT 130 GoTo scope and love the pictures it produces but cant get it to GoTo very well. It dose the three star alignment, 1 star alignment and solar alignment fine and have no problems with alignment, level the scope well and set the time to nearly the second. Once aligned and i start to move the scope around the night sky, if i try to ask the socpe to slew back to a star, even an alignment satr, it goes in the general direction but doesn't bring the star into the view field and is off by a significant amount. I have tried centering the star in the view and then asking the scope to find that star and it goes out of the view by the same amount every time. Im goging crazy. I thought it was a motor problem and swaped the scope at the store but the new one is exactly the same. I just dont know what is wrong. Im in the southern skies and only reviews is for the northern, dont know if this matters. Any help would be fantastic. Just cant get it to slew to any objests correctly!

Be sure that the telescope is configured for EQ SOUTH mode to tell it is in the southern hemisphere. Once a star alignment is completed NEVER manually move the telescope. Use only the control panel to slew. Everytime the telescope is move by hand, the motors do not know it has been done, and assume it is still pointing at the old direction. Check the manual for setup. Here: http://www.celestron.com/c3/images/files/downloads/NexStar_SLT_manual.pdf

I have an issue on my meade ET90 AT. I have a motor failure message after the telescope try to find a star. Now when I turn on I received a message from the autostar to press 0 or mode in both case it start the test motor and appear the message Motor fault. I change the batteries but it doesn't change the result. When I turn on and I received the message "0 or press mode" if I try to push the arrows button the telescope move right and left but no up and down. I called the meade customer service and after 30 seconds they told me to bring the telescope to their repair center. Thanks

Try this.1. Do a RESET on the hand controller.2. Reenter your Site, Date, and Time.3. Calibrate MotorsNow see if that fixed it. If not it will need to be returned to Meade because a gear or circuit is broken inside the scope.

I got a crappy vivitar telescope i cant see

First you bought a department store telescope-- not good. Buy telescopes from telescope retailers like Orion, or OPT Corporation. Try this-- during the daytime put the lowest magnification eyepiece in the telescope. I(t will be the one with the Largest NUMBER written on it. Then practice focusing on a distant object in day light.

Cant see out of 49114500 telescope

Here is a beginner's instruction on different types of telescopes--http://www.uk-telescopes.co.uk/beginners_guide%20to%20telescopes.htmYes I know the box said 650 power but that was a BIG BIG lie-- the smaller the number on the eyepiece the more magnification. Do NOT use the 2x barlow which doubles the normal eyepiece power in these small telescopes--- just way to much magnification. This is NOT necessary to view the sky at night. I almost NEVER go over 100 power in my 8 inch telescope-- once in a while maybe 175 power. Sp use the eyepiece with the largest number on it--- to practice focusing during the daytime.Try to locate a local Astronomy club and attend one of their star parties and ask questions. You can bring the telescope with you and they will help you with it.

Put the lowest power eyepiece in the telescope-- that's the one with the LARGEST number on it.Go outside and practice focusing on a distant object at least 100 yards away-- turn the focus knob slowly.
