Bushnell Telescope 78-4678

A telescope like that has a very narrow depth-of-field, so you need to focus very, very slowly to be able to see any image. Try focusing on something bigger (like a spot on the moon) and adjust the crosshair accordingly. The two eyepieces gives different magnification.

We just got our Bushnell Voyager 78-9945 Reflector Telescope. It comes with the poorest manual I have ever seen. How do you assemble the eye piece?, what is the little shiny metal triangle piece for? Does any one know of a site or a video that explains the pieces and shows how to assemble this telescope? I know some of you assembled this with the same manual, but I am feeling frustrated. Thank you for your help. Sid

I think I already answered this question. Eyepieces are NOT assembled they are one piece like this picture: simply slip into the hole of the focuser -- straight in. The larger the number written on the eyepiece the LOWER the magnification. In the picture above there is a metal triangle holding the tripod legs apart-- it is called a "tripod spreader" or a tripod "tray"-- used for holding eyepieces and other small pieces of equipment while you are using the scope.Hope that helps you.

Upside down images on my telescope. Bought used -no manuel. What to do?

In a refractor images are upside down as with most telescopes. You need an image erector to create a normal correct R and L and Up and Down image. It is a lens which goes in front of the eyepiece to give a correct image.

The mirror in my telescope has broken loose

Not worth fixing a Bushnell telescope. The mirror is attached with CLIPS that tighten down on the edge of the mirror. Look at the bottom of the scope for the mirror clip bolts. DO NOT over tighten these. You should be able to stick a business card between the clip and the mirror. This is tight enough.

The mirror in my telescope has broken loose

I would open it up to see what I could see, you might be able to get lucky and epoxy it back in place, but I would think the alignment would be critical, so I'm not sure how difficult the task would be. If the mirror fits in a holder of some sort, and you're sure it will seat correctly upon gluing it, you might use a dab of JB Weld to hold it in place, it's the strongest epoxy I've found, and you'd only have to glue it once. Can't believe Bushnell wants $200 for the repair...might indicate a difficult job, or time-consuming, but you never know till you get in there and take a look. Good luck, hope you get it working!
