4.5 inch reflector telescope --can't see anything

I recently bought a 4.5 inch reflector telescope. I put it all together with the handy visual guide and inside I was able to see through it, though the power seemed low, as objects looked slightly magnified. But outside, I can only see blackness. I've tried it several different times now, so it's not a case of something obvious like removing a cap, but I can't figure it out! I found a page on optical alignment that I'm going to try out, but I'd appreciate if anyone has an inkling of what I 'm missing.

Bushnell 114mm reflector telescope, can't see a thing

Probably NOT actually pointed directly at the moon-- you should have moved it around a little -- the moon was probably just outside the field of view through the eyepiece. ........................ telescope must be pointed DIRECTLY at the sky object-- also use the eyepiece with the largest number written on it=== this gives the LOWEST magnification..... and a slightly wider field of view.

You have to make sure your primary mirrow is level, there are a set of screws that will help you do it, then the secondary mirrow at 45 degree, start in a daylight to align the telescope. good luck

Cant see anything through the view finder

1. During the day, use the 17mm eyepiece on a object outside (telephone pole, water tower, etc) then align the finder to what you see in the scope. 2. Put in the 7.5mm eyepiece and fine align the red dot finder.3. At night, point the finder at the moon (less than half moon or the image is too bright without a moon filter) Use the 17mm eyepiece.4. Once you see the moon, switch to the 7.5mm lens and enjoy.5. Download Stellarium or any free astronomy software and see what is in your sky tonight. Your scope should be able to see Jupiter and its moons easily.(Saturn, Mars and Venus when the time is right) Open clusters like Pleiades will be nice is this fast scope.5. If stars are not sharp, you may need to collimate the scope. Look online for general instructions.

Cant see anything through the telescope

The red dot finder is NOT lined up with the main tube. During the daytime locate a distant object with the main tube eyepiece. Without moving the telescope adjust the red dot to point at the exact same spot.

I am having problems viewing

All astronomical telescopes show upside down images. There is no up or down in space. To ERECT the image would take additional GLASS lenses. MORE glass means less light pass-through for those dim sky objects.

I have a makusutove 150 1800 telescope and I cant seem to get it to focus correctly - it seems as though the mirrors are focussing the light behind the viewing lens. I can get a focussed image if I hold the viewing lens about 4 inches behind the telescope. how can I adjust this telescope to enable a focused image with the viewing lens in the holder?

You do not have enough BACK-FOCUS, you need an extension tube for the focuser like this one:http://www.skiesunlimited.net/index.php?CategoryID=132Buy the correct size for the focuser hole--
