Telescope my meade telescope is focusing upside down???

Hi there, the image in your telescope is suposed to be upside down (you'll find it's back to front too!). The reason for this is to get as much light to the eye as possible, the more lenses/mirrors the light has to go through/reflect off, the greater the light loss, and in astronomy you need all the light you can get. For terestrial viewing, you can purchase, quite cheeply, an image erecting adaptor. This will make your image the right way up. For the best terestrial viewing, you can still purchase prismatic adaptors. Best bet would be ebay. If I can be of any further help, don't hesitate Cheers.....Dave

I have a Meade telestar 114mm reflector. F=1000 f/8.8. There is what I believe is a correcting lense element located at the bottom end of the focuser tube that has come loose. I need to know which side of this corrector faces the eyepiece and its mounting depth from the end of the focuser tube.

That is called a diagonal.. It slips all the way into the focuser, then the screws are tightened to hold it there. The eyepiece then goes into the diagonal.

Question from a newbie! I just got a Telestar ds 2130at and i have taken off the lens cover (round cover approx 5'' dia.) and with the 25 eye piece i can not see anything thru the lense,no matter how focused. I am pointing at a telephone pole maybe 50 yards away.Just get a blured circle,no matter the eye piece of focus position.I have pointed it at many objects from 50 yds to accross lake half a mile,no different. What am i doing wrong?Like i said,i just got it as my brother in law died. I would appreciate any help. Thanks, Bill Long

Put the eyepiece with the largest number written on it into the focuser-- try again. You may need to make several turns of the focuser knob to get into focus.

I recently aquired the bottom part of a Meade Lightbridge 10" Truss Dobsonian Telescope. This includes the Primary Mirror & tube that contains it plus the 3 Struts and not much else. I think I can make myself the Base, but the problem I have is with the top tube that holds the secondary mirror & focuser. I need to know the exact dimensions of this tube that holds the secondary mirror & focuser so I can match this with parts (the secondary mirror & tube, I already have a focuser I can use) I can buy from vendors. Alternatively, do you know of someone with an undamaged secondary mirror & tube for a 10" Meade Lightbridge Truss Dobsonian Telescope willing to sell it? call Ken at 615-832-7464 or e-mail at [email protected] and let me know Ken

Try posting this question on the FORUM, either in the REFLECTORS topic, and or ATM, Optics Topic.Someone will answer you with the exact dimensions You can also post a Free Classified ad there -- a WANTED ad looking for the entire missing top section, Meade "may" also be willing to sell you Skies

PROBLEM WITH ETX125 The manual focus bar will not focus the telescope. Sent into Meade TWICE (once under warranty, once not!) and same problem reappeared AGAIN within months. I don't use the electronic focusing device. The problem is NOT the knob--it works. Problem is the pin focusing the OTA does not cause it to move. Anyone know how to take the OTA apart on a ETX125? I don't want to pay Meade another $150 bucks to get the same problem back!

You will find assembly and dis-assembly instructions with pictures on the Mighty ETX web site.Be very careful because all the wiring runs through the central bolt in the base and can be easily broken. Here are some good links:
