Meade DS2102 Telescope lost teeth for focusing in and out

It might be easiest to see if someone is selling one on Craig's list or ebay.  You might be able to find one used where the telescope is OK, but the motorized drive is broken and replace the telescope. Here is the contact information for Meade: Contacting the Customer Support Center     Customer Support representatives are available to handle your calls and letters regarding any Meade product 7:00am to 5:00pm Pacific Standard Time, Monday through Friday, excluding holidays. To contact the Meade Customer Support Center, please write, call, or fax. Our information is as follows: Meade Instruments Corporation27 Hubble Irvine, CA 92618(800) 626-3233 (U.S.A. Only) You could try calling them and see if they will sell the part you need for the focuser.  The focuser is called a rack and pinion focuser.  From your description it is hard to know if it is the long linear gear on the draw-tube (the part that holds the eyepiece) or the gear on the shaft of the focusing knob.  You will need to be able to describe that to them. I hope that helps.

All of Meade's manuals are listed here--http://www.meade.com/manuals/index.htmlTake it outside during the day time-- put the eyepiece with the LARGEST number written on it into the telescope--- this is the LOWEST magnification.Point it at a distant object and practice focusing-- the moon should be your first night time object.

No matter what lens specification i install of the 3 that were supplid by meade, the object( any object.......the moon in this particular case) is never in focus. it is only ever in sharp focus when i move the eyepiece about an inch away from the telescope and hold it in my hand. not ideal i know, but the moon does then appear in very sharp focus. its as id the size of the eyepiece lens is too small. what to do. whats missing?

If possible turn the lens extension around. also there should be an adjustment you can make right on the eyepeice. turn it left or right

I need a downloadable copy of the owners manual for my telescope. It is an Infinity by Meade, Mod. 114EQ-DH

You can download the user manual for this unit from this link.....http://www.retrevo.com/support/Meade-114EQ-D-Telescopes-manual/id/553bh350/t/2/

The focuser on my Meade DS-70 telescope is broken, the problem is the rack part of the rack and pinion is missing several teeth in two sections. The rack appears to be part of the inner tube, so replacing the rack does not appear to be possible. One fix I was thinking of was a typical bar/pipe clamp except there are a 2nd and 3rd set of clamps in place where the pads would normally go. I could then clamp the 2nd & 3rd clamps to the inner & outer tube and then use the main clamp to adjust focus. However I can't seem to find anything like this online.

You can return this to Maede for repairs-- or they might sell you the parts.Call them here:http://www.meade.com/support/index.html
