Neighbors 9 year old bought a Edu Science telescope at a yard sale. It appears to be missing the main lenses. On the viewing barrel is the name and the words coated optics; DIA. 76mm and F=700mm. No other markings or model #'s are available. What can be done to bring this back to operating level and is there an instructional manual available? The mirror and reflecting prism are fine, and the spoting scope also. Thanks John [email protected]

You can buy a new lens, or several lenses, for the telescope. You can find them on e-bay. Just look for your make and model and pick out different mm lenses for your style of viewing!

My son-in-law purchased an Edu Science telescope for his (then) 4-year old son. Neither of the parents have been able to focus the F=20mm horizontal scope. The vertical lense cannot be focused, leaving images "fuzzy". Have any ideas that will help us better enjoy the night-time viewing?

We are using an Edu-Science telescope with the number 2161002524A inscribed on the base. The lenses by themselves allow some light to come through but when I look through the telescope itself I see nothing. What can I do to troubleshoot?

I already answered this question.

Me and my stepdad recently got an edu science telescope for my birthday in march.i'm not sure what model it is because we threw the box away a few weeks ago. We cant even see the moon i dont know whats wrong or maybe were just stupid pleaase help

Is it a refractor--- with a lens in the front? or is it a reflector-- with mirrors? Here is Meade's manual web site-- look under either the REFRACTOR heading or the 4.5 inch REFLECTOR heading for one similar to your scope. They all assemble and are used the same way (except for type). That scope is beiung sold by Toys R Us and they do not have any manuals on the internet. Read my tips on my profile page.and also see this web site for pictures of the various types of scopes.http://texasastro.org/telescope.php

My son has an edu science telescope, bought from toy's R us, he seems to have lost the instructions and broken the tripod, much to my annoyance a the sky is clear tonight! Any way i was wondering where i could get a tripod from and instructions as he has quite a few lenses. hope someone can help. :-)

Any photo tripod would work if you can attach the tube. Toys R us do not provide any instruction manual, and they do not sell parts. We receive the most complaints on this brand. It is really a TOY telescope. Sorry.

We purchased an edu science telescope. model - 70 mm astro-gazer telescope. When we look through the "finderscope" everything is upside down. What do we do to fix this problem?

It isn't a problem. Astronomical telescopes usually show an upside down image. There is a good reason for this- erecting the image needs more bits of glass in the light path, which reduces the amount of light and increases aberrations. Even if this is only slight, astronomers prefer to avoid it, and they don't really care which way up the Moon or Jupiter appear. It is possible to fit an erecting prism or eyepiece to most astronomical telescopes, and some of them come with one (your main scope may have one), but one wouldn't bother to do this with the small finder scope.
