Overtighten causes hazing,and adjusment problem

As a general rule of thumb, If you have normal Weaver-type aluminum rings, you tighten to 10 to 15 inch-pounds. If you have normal Weaver-type steel scope rings, you tighten to 15 to 20 inch-pounds. If it's something exotic and/or expensive, you're pretty much stuck contacting the manufacturer. Leupold Mark 4's require 65 in-lb, for instance. Wiha makes two adjustable torque screwdrivers (one for lower torque, and one for up to 60 in-lb that are perfect for most any scope ring applications.

I have the 6x18x65LU atn rifle scope. I had the scope mounted to my 30-06 on two 1" weaver rails. the scope keeps sliding forward though the adjustable scope rings. I've been recentering the scope and making the rings a little tighter each time. can't tighten them any more and the scope is sliding all the way forward after about 20 rounds. am I not doing something right with the adjustable bushings inside? I'm also looking for other adjustable rings as well that may work better but can't find any.

Be cearfull you dont crush the scope tube,,but try rapping a little strip of sticky rubber or plastic tape round the scope tube then nipping the scope ring caps down onto this,,,but i think your scope rings are worn out or the wrong size,,ie 30mm not 25mm i have air rifle scope's on my 7.62/308 and on my 303 none of them move about at all and they have stayed on zero for years now!

I have a 25 year old Redfield 6X18 scope, with an

Bullet drop compensation,,,,compleat hog wash! no such thing in a scope, only a realy pricy one like £1500.00p worth and there not that good! but there coming soon! driven by a lazer for range finding,,, still your scope has clouded up becouse its leaking water has got into it, it could be repaired but its not cheap to do, it needs a complet strip down all the class cleand and new seals then a re-gas and it should be as good as new for another 25 years or so, any good scope with mill dot will work for you, you just need to relurn the bullet drop over again,,and with the years of shooting you have had that should come easy as falling over,,,why not just get a good prised 3/9x40 mill dot and try that out insted, you will be plesently pleased with todays mid priced range scopes treet your self, and save money at the same time

My Scope ran out of adjustment and still is out of sight

Plastic shims? Commercial stainless steel scope shims would work much better without compressing. Inexpensive and durable along with a wide range of thicknesses and lengths.

Question about Swarovski Scopes

Iv had this problem many times before,,,its more likley to be a bad set of mounts not inline with the barrel,,, if you have ran out of windage adjustment,, to get over it i use a strip of 35mm film inside the scope mount to push the scope over a bit,,, but a new set of mounts would be the best way forwards

Meade LX200GPS The scope does not complete the 'Auto Alignment'

Once the scope has taken a GPS fix and knows TIME, and SITE, and you do a two star alignment your alignment stars overide any automatic alignment issues. You could turn off the GPS put in Time, Date, and Site, do a two star alignment and everything would be fine. Centering the alignment stars is the "trick". Apparently the scope also finds NORTH OK, or the alignment stars would be way off. Since you pre-level the tripod already the software can FAIL on "tilt" and you still get good gotos.I would not worry about it, especially since your gotos seem perfectly fine.
