Thank you for the reply. No thank you not interested in the plan. I purchased the tasco lenses that were for a different tasco scope, and tried them on both the tasco galaxsee scop and a bushnell that I have and they worked perfectly on both. Thanks again. cptnjkspro

We were given an EDU Science telescope and tripod (no case). We don't know if it is working or if it has all the parts. The telescope looks like the link below, but the smaller tube attachment (see the large image front lower right) is missing. All we have is the tripod and the main large tube. http://www.shopgoodwill.com/auctions/Edu-Science-Reflector-Telescope-W600x-Power--7034286.html The text on the telescope says: Coated Optics DIA-76mm F=800mm When we look inside the telescope (large tube) we see a mirror at the bottom. Near the top inside are the three metal bars with the device in the middle with three screws. I think we are missing the eye piece. I can send pictures if that would help. Our goal is to get it to work without having to buy all new parts. Thanks Jerry Pickett

The bit you are missing is the finder scope, which is a small low-power scope that is used to line up the main scope on an object that you want to view. Without this it can be quite hard to get the scope pointed at anything, as the field of view is quite limited, and more so at higher powers. It can be quite expensive to buy useful eyepieces for a scope, but they are readily available if the eyepiece mount tube is 1.25 inch inside diameter. The eyepieces that originally came with this scope probably were not very good, and in fact this scope is not up to much. It is rather small for a reflector at three inches diameter. You certainly won't be able to use it at the advertised 600 power, or even at 200. It has neither the resolution nor the light gathering ability with that small an aperture.I would recommend that you explore the web page at THIS LINK for a lot of good advice about first telescopes, before you spend any money.

I cant figure out how to get the lenses to work?

If this is a small TASCO or BUSNELL telescope you bought a toy telescope-- Try this-- put the eyepiece with the largest number written on it into the telescope. This is your lowest magnification. Go outside during the day time and practice focusing on a distant object-- try to see the moon at night once you learn how to focus.

Mouldy lenses We have an old telescopic gunsight with maker's mark Watson and Son, London near the eyepiece end, presumably from WW2. No other markings that we can find. We can see that the large lenses are mouldy inside, but cannot work out how to get the telescope apart to clean them. It seems to be made of brass, but has been painted over with black paint. Can anyone help, please? Our grandchildren would love to be able to use it. The Richardsons

On many telescopes the front lens screws out and is removable for cleaning--- this may have been covered with paint--

I was given a Tasco Luminova a couple of months ago that had no eye piece in it, i have since purchased one for it thinking that this was the only thing that i needed for it to work correctly. Unfortu

Tasco telescopes are not worth owning. They will only frustrate you and you will dislike astronomy. Buy a Meade, Celestron or Orion Even the Celestron 70 travel scope, although it has a poor tripod, will give you a great view of the moon and ok view of Jupiter and Saturn They are under $80

I also bought one & have no idea how the lenses should work...

Verify that the mirrors are aligned; look through the eyepiece holder (without an eyepiece) and you should see the main mirror with your eye looking back from the center. Ensure that there are no filters on the eyepiece, and use the lowest power one to begin (longest focal length).

Insutrction manual Hello optics experts, I cannot seem to find the instruction manual for the "Polaris" 114EQ-D telescope, however I have found a manual for a "Jupiter" 114EQ-D. MY telescope is very old, is it possible that Meade just re-branded the telescope? Pictures in the manual I was able to find look exactly like the actual telescope I own.

Hi, I also have this telescope with no manual! I called the Meade customer service number at 1-800-626-3233 and they are going to email me the manual for this model. FYI - it's now called a Jupiter 114EQ-D. Hope this helps you!

Cannot focus a Meade Refractor "Electronic Digital" series

All of Meade's manuals are listed here--http://www.meade.com/manuals/index.htmlTake it outside during the day time-- put the eyepiece with the LARGEST number written on it into the telescope--- this is the LOWEST magnification.Point it at a distant object and practice focusing-- the moon should be your first night time object.

ETX-125 Autostar controller not working

My ETX 125 did this to me, here's what happened I had a 497 autostar hooked up to it and it quit working the scope stopped dead and the autostar went dead i hooked another autostar up to it and the same thing happened I took the scope apart and noticed that the wires for the upper motor run through the bolt that tightens the rotational clutch on the base, the clutch handle mechanism in the base sliced through the wiring and shorted out the 12v black wire onto the autostar data yellow wire, this sent 12v back into the autostar and fried it. both autostar circuit boards were destroyed as the short caused the custom programmed microchip to burn and blister. I am in the process of repairing mine and getting a new autostar computer. I would recommend against asking a friend to try thier autostar box on your scope for obvious reasons.
