Fixing a remington scope

I have a remington 6 X 24 telescopic sight that I bought back in the mid 70's. A few years after I bought it I found it would not adjust and since Remington no longer repaired their scopes they directed me to a shop in Denver Co. to fix it. They sent it back saying it was repaired but it wasn't. Sice I had already paid them for a job they did not do I did not send it back just to be charged again. Does anyone know of a repair manual available and any tools I might need to repair it nyself? Thanks so much..Gary R

Repair manuals will be extremely difficult to get if there was such a thing you're best hope would be an exploded diagram with parts list the tools required are specialised so unless you want to make your own finding them will be difficult and expensive buy a couple of old scopes and strip them down and rebuild them for practice

My rifle hits the same spot no matter how i adjust it

There should be two adjustment dials on the scope one on top and one on the side might be covered with a plastic plate, depending on the scope the top dial does elevation, and the side dial does left and right adjustments

Adjustments do not hold and adjustment knobs don't always work.

Ok im just guessing, but if you look around the outside you may see tiny holes that are filled with filler and underneath those will be set screws, with a fine screw driver you can tighten them. if not then problem is internal.good [email protected]

I purchased a Fujinon 3.5-10X50 rifle scope a few years ago and mounted it on a Remington 7 MM Mag. I am unable to pull a group less than 12 inches at 200 yards and have not been able too since installing the new scope. I removed the scope and replaced with a Redfield 6X40 fixed and I am now able to shoot 2 inch groups. I never reinsatlled the Fujinon but would like to send the Fujinon scope in for repair so I can install it on a different rifle and begin using it. I really like the Fujinon optical clearity and would like to start using it again.

It is most likely the mounts not the scope. I would just install it on the new gun and check it there. Most times a scope that wanders is the mounts. One thing with big scope is they need to be tight or the recoil will move it in the mounts. Next due to being tight when the gun heats up it can and will tweak the scope in the mounts enough to move your center. Try it in your other gun, try 3 shot groups and let the gun cool. Recheck your center. If it is good with a cold gun all is well. If it moves from one day to the next it is the mounts. If you count the clicks to recenter, come back the next day and move it the same clicks, it is the mounts. If it is all over the place, day after day it is the scope.

I use my TSN821 spotting scope for target shooting, I am looking for a wide angle lens. Currently the eye piece that is on the scope is 27mm Deen.

Wrong optics application. A spotting scope cannot change field of view.

Lost vision The telescope was working fine until I was trying to match the view through the smaller spotting scope with that of the main telescope, and suddenly I could faintly tell I was aimed at the moon by a soft glow alone, but could no longer actually see details nor the usual brightness of it. I've taken the scope apart and cleaned the lenses and mirror. I can see beautifully if I remove the eyepiece, but of course I'm just looking at the mirrors inside at that point. When I replace the eyepiece, all I can see is that very faint glow which, when focused, gives me that funky view of the inside of my own eyeball like when you get your eyes checked at the optometrist's office and they shine that bright light in your pupil. Any idea what's happened here and how I can fix it? Maybe I need a new eyepiece?

Your telescope is a "Newtonian," as such it requires regular "collimation" Collimation the alignment of the optics. The mirrors must be lined up properly for the telescope to deliver a good image to the eyepiece. Your scope sound like it is way out of collimation. My guess is that the diagonal (secondary) mirror has rotated in it's mount. There are three basic tools for collimating a Newtonian the Sight Tube, Cheshire and Autocollimator. To get your digonal aligned correctly you need a sight tube. Rather than spend a lot on these consider making your own and keep an eye on eBay offerings. Don't bother investing in a laser collimator, they simply don't do the job unless you go for the very best. From some help with the collimation process check these links. http://www.astronexus.com/node/6http://www.amateurastronomy.com/collimate.html The 60 page pamphlet "New Perspectives on Newtonian Collimation," Fourth Edition by Vic Menard and Tippy D’Auria runs $10, but if you really want to do it right it's worth the money.
