Guide :Optics : Essentials 10x50 2023BRZ Wide Angle WA Zip Focus Binoculars

Internal cleaning My binoculars are on my boat most of the summer and they have developed a fog onternally on the left side. I'd like to disassemble them to clean the inner lenses where the fog is but have only been able to get it apart so far. I've been able to remove most of the outer case but am not sure how to remove the clips that hold the optics in place inside. Can you help? Thanks!

I don't know about disassembling binoculars. However have you tried drying them out, either in a "dry box" or by using silica crystals?

Left the binoculars on top of the rain barrel over night. It rained so they are soaked and I need to clean the foggy elements. It appears that there are only 4 screws for the casing and the eye pieces don't seem to be able to be removed. How do I open the binoculars to clean them?

Welcome to Fixya Instead of taking apart the binocular. Try to put the Binocular in a ziplock bag and leave it outside till the body temperature of the gear changes to the outside temperature. You can also hair dryer on the lowest setting and blow it at the glass, to warm up the lens. This will make the condensation and fog to evaporate.Thank you for using Fixya!

In just a little rain the outer lense fogs up bad enough that I cannot see through them at all.

Hi,This is normal enough.. Your binoculars don't have an anti-fog coating on them.Bushnell do a spray on anti fog if you want to give it a try. Any good Bushnell stockist should be able to get it for you..

I have a pair of Zeiss 10X40B Binoculars that I bought in 1993. They are still functioning well except now the middle that holds each side apart thus fitting your eyes, is now very loose and I must hold them at the right separation myself in order to look through the lenses. It seems like there should be a simple solution to this problem. Must I send them to a Zeiss place for repairs or is it something I can do myself?

To tighten up the binoculars you need to remove the adjuster cap (arrow on picture below). Once that is removed you will see a screw that you can tighten to make them stiffer to separate. Good Luck and please accept the answer and please leave a testimonial
