You do have fresh batteries? Does the light come on -- on the control panel? Does the hand controller light up?We need more information to answer you-- but for repairs you will need to return it to Meade. Call them here:http://www.meade.com/support/index.html

Meade ETX-125EC Telescope Problem

Well, when I got the unit, indeed it would not power up at all. I could see no burning or signs of arcing.I looked online for an internal picture of the drive and fitted the cables back in according to the image.Tadahhhh, one working drive, only works on the 12v though, Batteries wont work although I have measured the voltage and they are all fully charged. Seems the previous owner had removed the looms and put them back incorrectly.

My Meade ETX-125EC Telescope has a broken horizontal lock lever where can I get a replacement? thanks

Meade can probably sell you one :http://www.meade.com/support/index.htmlYou might also find something that would work to tighten it at a well stocked hardware store.

Not getting power to the drive motors - Meade ETX-125EC (500 x 127mm) Telescope

I own an ETX90. Is the power light on the computer control panel ON?If yes then the board is probably OK. If NO- either the power cable is bad or the board is blown.Try a new power cable first, and or install batteries and see if that works. If the light is on you could have a loose wire inside. Re-seat the connections inside the base. Read these instructions:http://www.weasner.com/etx/techtips/etxtu.htmIf it still does not work you can send it back to Meade for repairs. Call them about that here:http://www.meade.com/support/index.html

Focus. Knob is tight - Meade ETX-125EC (500 x 127mm) Telescope

Remove the OTA from the rear cell; unscrew the focuser shaft about half way (CCW) and remove the knob or electric focuser unit; there are three very small hex cap screws which hold the OTA into the rear cell; remove these and save in a tuna can or similar, because they WILL get lost if you place on the countertop. Once done, merely grasp the blue OTA in one hand with a rubber glove for grip and the rear cell/fork arms in the other hand and pull gently apart....do NOT twist while separating! You will see where the threaded focus rod inserts into the OTA....typically binding is causing the shifting, but most of this is due to poor milling by Meade on some 125 models. You can improve these imperfect models greatly, but do not expect to eliminate all focus shift. Run the focus rod gently all the way CCW until you feel pressure...do NOT force or you will damage. Once there apply a thick grease, such as pure white Lithium (available in the tool dept. at Lowes) in a very thin layer, pushing hard into the threads...do NOT apply too much or you risk getting this stuff on the optics eventually. Once done, put the knob on the rod temporarily and run it in and out all the way slowly about 3-4 times. Once done, run it HALF-WAY between all the way and all the way out and stop. At that position, turn the OTA to about a 45-degree tilt, with corrector down and put 1-2 DROPS of 3-in-1 oil right where the threaded rod goes into the threaded rear cell of the scope and QUICKLY run the focuser CLOCKWISE to get that thin bit of oil into the rear cell threads. Once done, run the threaded rod slowly all the way CW and then CCW about 2 more times. This procedure will greatly improve the performance....NOTE: do NOT put more than 2 drops of oil on the rod!

PROBLEM WITH ETX125 The manual focus bar will not focus the telescope. Sent into Meade TWICE (once under warranty, once not!) and same problem reappeared AGAIN within months. I don't use the electronic focusing device. The problem is NOT the knob--it works. Problem is the pin focusing the OTA does not cause it to move. Anyone know how to take the OTA apart on a ETX125? I don't want to pay Meade another $150 bucks to get the same problem back!

You will find assembly and dis-assembly instructions with pictures on the Mighty ETX web site.Be very careful because all the wiring runs through the central bolt in the base and can be easily broken. ETX-125 Autostar controller not working

My ETX 125 did this to me, here's what happened I had a 497 autostar hooked up to it and it quit working the scope stopped dead and the autostar went dead i hooked another autostar up to it and the same thing happened I took the scope apart and noticed that the wires for the upper motor run through the bolt that tightens the rotational clutch on the base, the clutch handle mechanism in the base sliced through the wiring and shorted out the 12v black wire onto the autostar data yellow wire, this sent 12v back into the autostar and fried it. both autostar circuit boards were destroyed as the short caused the custom programmed microchip to burn and blister. I am in the process of repairing mine and getting a new autostar computer. I would recommend against asking a friend to try thier autostar box on your scope for obvious reasons.
