I have been given a second hand meade 4501 with a electronic drive motor attached ,when trying to get the telescope to move either to left or right the control pad seems to stick and will only move one way, though if I unplug motor from transformer then plug in it seem to go either way for a moment or so then just goes one way, the pad has only three buttons on it two arrows one for left one for right movement and one which has speed on it, though if the speed button is pressed then the motor will go the other way but very slowly could you please tell me if I am doing something wrong or tell me a solution to this please

Your RA motor is defective and or the gear is not engaging the drive axis.

When i look thru eyepiece everything leans to one side

Stand on your head while viewing and then turn the telescope sideways... that should do the trick.

Hello, I had the same problem but was able to solve it by shimming the scope mounts with a thin piece of plastic. Put it under the rear to raise the sighting and under the front to lower. I still plan to buy my son a better scope.

Binoculers do not appear to be focussing properly.

Binox have a prism in each barrel to invert the image. When dropped or banged around the prisms may move in their mounts creating the problem you present. I have opened binox and reset the prism effecting a correction, but IF you unit is nitrogen filled you will be losing that anti-fogging benefit. If you choose to open your pair, check for movement in each prism, neither should be loose. Once you find the original proper placement, a drop of crazy glue does wonders - just a drop on one edge.

Hi, Inherited a North Star Bushnell telescope. No instruction manual. I downloaded that. The little corded thing works but the motor doesn't seem to be working to turn the telescope in the right direction. There is one 9 volt battery installed near the remote thing. Do I need more batteries for the motor? If so, where do they go? Also, (I feel really stupid) why is everything upside down when I look through the eyepiece? One more stupid question....I know the mirror is at one end, at the other end is a small cap in the center of the large cap. Do I only remove the small cap or do I take off the whole big cap when I want to use the telescope? One more not stupid question. Can I buy a case that is specifically for this telescope, if so where? Thank you, Teresa

I don't know about the motor on this scope.Astronomical telescopes usually show an upside down image. There is a good reason for this- erecting the image needs more bits of glass in the light path, which reduces the amount of light and increases aberrations. Even if this is only slight, astronomers prefer to avoid it, and they don't really care which way up the Moon or Jupiter appear. It is possible to fit an erecting prism or eyepiece to most astronomical telescopes, and some of them come with one.You remove the whole large cap to use the telescope.I don't know about cases for this scope. I just leave my scope set up in the corner of the dining room.
