ETX125 PE new model. Elevation has totally stopped.

Could be that the DEC motor driver has died. That could be verified by swapping the connections between the RA and DEC. If the DEC now moves, then that is the problem. If not, then the DEC motor is bad.

I have a Meade ETX-70. When turned on, the handset says there is a Motor Unit Fault: Motor failure detected due to moving handset between scopes, low battery level, obstructed or overloaded scope. I've replaced the batteries with fresh ones, with no luck. I do not understand what they mean by "moving handset between scopes". (Note: twice the motor unit engaged and the telescope rotated on base while warning was scrolling across handset,

This is usually caused by low battery power-- as the hand controller reported. DO NOT USE rechargeable batteries they do not have enough volts. Use alkaline batteries only. This can also be caused by a broken gear or a failed internal motor. You can return these to Meade for repair. Here is the contact number:http://www.meade.com/support/index.html

I have a one year old 125PE scope on an AutoStar "Go To" mount. IT was working fine until SUnday night when the Altitude gears started to jam when raising the OTA. The unit was not bumped or dropped. I switched to AC power (Meade beanded power supply) and the problem persists. It sounds like; "whirr, whirr, whirr, BUZZZZZZZZZZ, whirr, whirr, whirr..." I have the fork cover off (this is an LNT unit) and can see no broken teeth on any gears. The bussing comes from within the plastic gear box. Are there any adjustments I can make or a way to get a replacement gear box?

I have a Meade ETX-70AT scope that I inherited from a neighbor years ago. It came with two eye pieces (9 and 25 mm), a tripod, and an Autostar which I believe is the #494 model. On the bottom of the Autostar, there are no ports for cables and only the coil cable going in (no way to remove it without cutting it). When I plug it in, even with fresh batteries in the scope, and turn on the power, I only see one row of LCD squares, occasionally two, and every once in a great while it lights up red. I usually try it when indoors where I can see what I'm doing, and I am at a loss for what to do, other than break it open and try to fix it myself. Thanks in advance, Alex

The hand controller cable is probably defective-- right at the connector that plugs into the scope. Any computer network "wizard" can replace the connector. The wires must be in the exact same sequence when he repairs it.If this simple fix does not work and you KNOW that the batteries are good-- then the hand controller is defective and will need to be replaced.
