CG4 Drive controller

Hi, Hand controller unit dropped form my hand with no visual damages seen from out side. But it no more drives the telescope though while connecting with the battery pack the middle light (supposed to be in green during sidreal movement) is on in yellow mode.By touching the motor I feel the pulse that the controller delivers to the motor but very unfortunately it is not driving the telescope. Can you provide the circuit diagram? I've purchased this telescope last year from Adorama and brought in India this year. Biswajit

Konus 200 telescope mount

Most of these German Equatorial mounts are sourced from various factories in China and are knockoffs of earlier Japanese models. Konus and other rebranders simply by a lot from one of the factories and do not provide parts or service support. If you have the Konus Newtonian telescope, (200 mm diameter (7.8"), focal 1000 mm.) with heavy-duty equatorial mount, I think that it's made by Jinghua. This is a pretty common mount (Meade sold it for a while and still sells a Jinghua as the LXD-75). Your best bet it to post a wanted ad on Cloudy Nights Classifieds. There are a few of us that keep inventories of spare parts from damaged equipment fro service and repairs. HTH, Geo.

I have a Meade LX-90 8 inch telescope that gets a motor fault failure in declination. I have done all the usual attempts to fix it Ex. train drive which geberates error, swap out autostar, autostar cable, reseat cables on the dec motor board etc. On approx 11/2010 I posted this same question to FixYa and they gave me the name of a person who I beleive lived in Haverhill Mass who I contacted thru the Yahoo LX-90 user group and was planning on bringing my scope to him for possible repair. As luck would have it I had a harddrive failure and lost all infomation about this person (should have put the info on paper) Yup I know about backups, had external HD backup which did not work. Is it possible that you would still have this persons name so I could contact him again. Thank You In Advance John Maher Hudson Ma [email protected]

Well it could be several people:Ron Sampson -- available on the Yahoo LX90 group post a message for him- he can repair any of the boards inside the scope and also the hand controller.or The Astronomy Shoppe-

I have a Meade ETX-70AT scope that I inherited from a neighbor years ago. It came with two eye pieces (9 and 25 mm), a tripod, and an Autostar which I believe is the #494 model. On the bottom of the Autostar, there are no ports for cables and only the coil cable going in (no way to remove it without cutting it). When I plug it in, even with fresh batteries in the scope, and turn on the power, I only see one row of LCD squares, occasionally two, and every once in a great while it lights up red. I usually try it when indoors where I can see what I'm doing, and I am at a loss for what to do, other than break it open and try to fix it myself. Thanks in advance, Alex

The hand controller cable is probably defective-- right at the connector that plugs into the scope. Any computer network "wizard" can replace the connector. The wires must be in the exact same sequence when he repairs it.If this simple fix does not work and you KNOW that the batteries are good-- then the hand controller is defective and will need to be replaced.
