Blowing fuses in power supply

One thing to check, would be the filter capacitator that is on the front circuit board. They are known to become shorted. The cap is fairly large, and may be mounted on the side of the circuit board that faces the front panel. Clip one lead, and apply power. If the fuse does not blow, then that is it. A second possible component, is the polarity protection diode, that is near the power jack, next to the fuse. If it is shorted, then the fuse will blow every time.

Meade ETX-125EC Telescope Problem

Well, when I got the unit, indeed it would not power up at all. I could see no burning or signs of arcing.I looked online for an internal picture of the drive and fitted the cables back in according to the image.Tadahhhh, one working drive, only works on the 12v though, Batteries wont work although I have measured the voltage and they are all fully charged. Seems the previous owner had removed the looms and put them back incorrectly.

Yes you can just make sure that the power cord has the CORRECT pin polarity- you can order the 12 volt cigarette lighter style cord from Meade.

I have a one year old 125PE scope on an AutoStar "Go To" mount. IT was working fine until SUnday night when the Altitude gears started to jam when raising the OTA. The unit was not bumped or dropped. I switched to AC power (Meade beanded power supply) and the problem persists. It sounds like; "whirr, whirr, whirr, BUZZZZZZZZZZ, whirr, whirr, whirr..." I have the fork cover off (this is an LNT unit) and can see no broken teeth on any gears. The bussing comes from within the plastic gear box. Are there any adjustments I can make or a way to get a replacement gear box?

Problems with my LX200 Classic version

C1 and C2 are on the input of a voltage regulator. The fact that they burn, could mean that their voltage rating has been exceeded (check the voltage across them), or that age has caused their failure. The classic uses about 18 volts into the power panel - see that it is not higher than that. The handpad would not be a cause for this to happen as it is not the source of the power. Replace the caps with similar ones, but with higher voltage rating - 50v is fine. But check your power supply first!
