Pattern appeared on interior of lens/prism

My Canao 12X36IS binos were stored for a season (indoors. When using them for the first time, I noticed a pattern like etching or dried condensation on when looking through them. It seems to be on the prism or lens interior surface. Any sugestions on how to fix. Is this just a cleaning issue?

What you see is fungus . It comes off very easily BUT if allowed to grow it will damage coating and glass because the organism releases hydrofluoric acid. So the key is to clean as soon as possible. You can do this your self but be careful around the prisms because even slight movement here will upset your collimation ( will get 'double image')and then you will need to have your nbinocs aligned properly.

Image appears double and slighly off when viewing

I was having a double vision problem with my Barska 10-30X50 zoom, 195FT/100YDS binoculars. One image was always higher than the other. This was tolerable at low zoom, but was further aggravated the more I zoomed in. I found that I could grasp both barrels and twist them in opposite directions (one side up, the other side down) and force the two images to merge--but that was a strain and an unpleasant viewing experience. As an experiment, while looking through the binoculars, I grasped the far end of the right barrel and twisted it on its axis. Nothing happened at first, but after a certain amount of resistance it began to rotate independently of the body. Lo and behold, this shifted the barrel's axis, and the image for that eye moved vertically! I turned it until the two images merged, and now I'm thrilled to say that the problem is solved! I don't have a clue if this would work on any other brand or model, but it's worth a try!

Left the binoculars on top of the rain barrel over night. It rained so they are soaked and I need to clean the foggy elements. It appears that there are only 4 screws for the casing and the eye pieces don't seem to be able to be removed. How do I open the binoculars to clean them?

Welcome to Fixya Instead of taking apart the binocular. Try to put the Binocular in a ziplock bag and leave it outside till the body temperature of the gear changes to the outside temperature. You can also hair dryer on the lowest setting and blow it at the glass, to warm up the lens. This will make the condensation and fog to evaporate.Thank you for using Fixya!
