Motor Doesn't appear to move the telescope & battery problem

It appears that my telescope "Red Dot Finder Scope" battery has died and I can't find a parts list to know what type or size battery to use to replace it with and the "Motorized movement Buttons" do not move. I replaced the 9V Battery but it still doesn't move. Can you help me. Bill

I have an issue on my meade ET90 AT. I have a motor failure message after the telescope try to find a star. Now when I turn on I received a message from the autostar to press 0 or mode in both case it start the test motor and appear the message Motor fault. I change the batteries but it doesn't change the result. When I turn on and I received the message "0 or press mode" if I try to push the arrows button the telescope move right and left but no up and down. I called the meade customer service and after 30 seconds they told me to bring the telescope to their repair center. Thanks

Try this.1. Do a RESET on the hand controller.2. Reenter your Site, Date, and Time.3. Calibrate MotorsNow see if that fixed it. If not it will need to be returned to Meade because a gear or circuit is broken inside the scope.

Does my telescope needs acounter weight to keep it still even when the motor is off?

Hi.I have the same problem.I bought a few 1oz magnets and place them under the tube at the bottom by the mirror. They counter ballance the real eyepieces. Depending what I put in the focuser tube determines how many magnets. Better yet, dump that junk if you can.I hope to. Gerry

ETX-125 Autostar controller not working

My ETX 125 did this to me, here's what happened I had a 497 autostar hooked up to it and it quit working the scope stopped dead and the autostar went dead i hooked another autostar up to it and the same thing happened I took the scope apart and noticed that the wires for the upper motor run through the bolt that tightens the rotational clutch on the base, the clutch handle mechanism in the base sliced through the wiring and shorted out the 12v black wire onto the autostar data yellow wire, this sent 12v back into the autostar and fried it. both autostar circuit boards were destroyed as the short caused the custom programmed microchip to burn and blister. I am in the process of repairing mine and getting a new autostar computer. I would recommend against asking a friend to try thier autostar box on your scope for obvious reasons.

I have a Bushnell Northstar Telescope with a red dot finder scope. Recently, I've been useing my telescope with some friends down at the lake and my finderscope ran out of batteries. What battery type does it use, and where can I get it?

They are all different. Take the battery out and go to Radio Shack or Wal Mart and find a replacement. Most are the small "watch" style batteries.

I just purchased a northstar, goto telescope, model 78-8876. I purchased it second hand. When I try to turn on the power on, I have to keep the power button pressed down to have power, I let go, the power go's out. But even while I have the button pressed, I can't get the telescope to respond, or move. The remote will be lit up, and I can go through the set up, but its as if the telescope itself doesn't get power. Keeping in mind, I'm doing this with the power button manually pressed in all the time. I do have a new energizer battery in the unit..... Any suggestions? Thanks.....

Obviously either your hand controller is broken and or a circuit inside the scope. Here is Bushnell's repair web site:http://www.opticsplanet.net/bushnell-warranty.html
