Upside down images

OK, I was given a field vision telescope as a gift. model #F700/76. The is a very small operationinstruction manual with it that covers pretty much nothing. Having never had a telescope before, I have no idea why the images I view are upside down. I assume they are not supposed ot be... how does one correct this? Is it missing a lens or am I doing something wrong? HELP!

Upside down images on my telescope. Bought used -no manuel. What to do?

In a refractor images are upside down as with most telescopes. You need an image erector to create a normal correct R and L and Up and Down image. It is a lens which goes in front of the eyepiece to give a correct image.

Upside down images

ALL telescopes will show the image upside-down. You learn to adjust for this. IF you must, they do make a lens called an "erecting lens" that would flip the image back right-side up.

How do I fix the upside down image - Fieldvision 114mm Reflector (114 x 114mm) Telescope

Astronomical telescopes usually show an upside down image. There is a good reason for this- erecting the image needs more bits of glass in the light path, which reduces the amount of light and increases aberrations. Even if this is only slight, astronomers prefer to avoid it, and they don't really care which way up the Moon or Jupiter appear. It is possible to fit an erecting prism or eyepiece to most astronomical telescopes, and some of them come with one, but if you want a telescope primarily for terrestrial use, you are much better off buying what is called a "spotting scope".If the telescope has a standard 1.25 inch diameter eyepiece, then an erecting eyepiece may be found on Amazon or eBay. An erecting prism or diagonal of the type that bends the light through 90 degrees is not right for a reflecting scope. These are used on refractors.

My telescope images are upside down, how do i correct this?

ALL astronomical telescopes show upside down images, it's normal. Nothing is wrong with your telescope. For terrestrial viewing you can buy an "erecting prism" which will turn the image right side up.Like this one:http://www.skiesunlimited.net/index.php?CategoryID=98Read my Frequently Asked Questions TIP on my profile page.

Cant get an image. Is it right that the view finderimage is upside down

The image of all astronomical telescopes are upside down (SCTs are upside down and reversed). RACI (right angled, correct image) finders do produce a right-side up image. For daytime use a erect image prism eyepiece.Follow below instructions (except 7 in your case) Get Stellarium or another fine astronomy programDuring the day, point the telescope at a part of the landscape about 100 yards away.Use the lowest power eyepiece (highest number) in the focal tube. Center the landscape object in the telescope. Align the finder scope so that it points exactly where the main telescope is.At night, leave the scope out to reach thermal equilibrium (about an hour for small reflectors and refractors)If the scope is on a EQ mount, polar align.Point the finder at the moon. The moon should be in the main scope also.Practice finding the moon before you start on the planetsOnce you are comfortable with the moon and planets, you can go for the deep sky objects

I bought a basic Meade DS 2114 GOTO astronomical telescope for my father who is only just getting into telescopes and astronomy. As both of us are just beginners and mainly use the telescope leisurely, we haven't gotten very serious about it and don't know too much. So the problem is that the telescope is clearly missing a lens that will invert the image and I need to know what I will need in order to view images the right way instead of upside down as we currently are

NO it is NOT missing a lens-- all astronomical telescopes show upside down images. You can buy an "erecting prism" diagonal for terrestrial viewing, but you do not need it to view the night sky. Here is an example of the erecting prism:http://www.astronomics.com/main/product.asp/catalog_name/Astronomics/category_name/EDNECFUVSRWS8KLNTU5E38XSE1/product_id/6329

I have a makusutove 150 1800 telescope and I cant seem to get it to focus correctly - it seems as though the mirrors are focussing the light behind the viewing lens. I can get a focussed image if I hold the viewing lens about 4 inches behind the telescope. how can I adjust this telescope to enable a focused image with the viewing lens in the holder?

You do not have enough BACK-FOCUS, you need an extension tube for the focuser like this one:http://www.skiesunlimited.net/index.php?CategoryID=132Buy the correct size for the focuser hole--

Image upside down

Hi, this is a common "problem" for astronomical telescopes. Same with my Meade 3" refractor and spotter. It is actually a design 'feature' not broken. The issue is that most astronomical telescopes naturally show images upside down, or some combination of upside down and left-right. (Astronomers usually don't care, because space has no up or down.)It is just the way optics work when lenses or mirrors bounce and bend light. (And since the professional astronomer wants the most light and most direct image, they usually don't want extra devices just to make it right-side up.)Reason that binoculars don't do that , is they employ special internal prisms to get the image back right-side up.Easiest solution for astronomical telescope is to buy what is called a "star-diagonal" or "image-erector prism". These will usually make the image look normal for us earth-based folks.I do not know what exact type your Meade 227 telescope is, but the spotter scope is most likely a simple refractor. So it MAY be possible to install a star diagonal onto it. Or might not. Depends on the exact spotter scope design. Another option may be able to buy a replacement spotter scope that is designed for correcting image orientation.

Rotate image so that it is not upside down

You will never be able to use the 3X barlow which TRIPLES the magnification of any eyepiece-- it's just too much for such a small scope. All astronomical telescopes have upside down images--- there is no up or down in space.
